Mission Statement

Make every child appreciate life and use available resources to change his/her environment for a better adult life through Mentoring, Inspiring & Early Life Counselling towards Economic, Spiritual and Moral Success, in Adult Life.

Our History

The organisation was formed to focus on creating and providing avenues for children to speak, be their voice – listen to them. “C” as it appears on title (C-Sema), stands for CIVIC driven CHANGE by CHILDREN while ‘Sema’ is a Swahili word that literally means speaking.

How We Work: Our main objective is to create and provide avenues for children to speak through…

1. National Child Helpline 116

Child Helpline Counsellors actively listen to children (or adults speaking calling on behalf of children) who wish to express their concerns, and either link them to resources and emergency assistance as needed, or counsel them/provide them with information as per their requests.

2. Happy and Sad Box

The Happy/Sad Boxes, decorated with cartoons, are placed in schools. The boxes invited children to write-in their concerns with a message that requests of them simply, "Tell us why you are happy or sad." Happy/Sad Opinion Boxes Initiative is aimed at promoting Child Participation, besides providing avenue for abuse reporting. It is hoped that by the end of project life, children will have developed the capacity to protect themselves from abuse through their opinions.

3. Sema Magazine

C-Sema publishes and freely distributes Sema Magazine to children in schools once in every quarter.</p
