FORUT – Campaign for Development and Solidarity - is a Norwegian development NGO with partners and programmes in six countries; Sierra Leone, Malawi, Zambia, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. FORUT also operates as an advocacy voice and as a technical advisor on the global level.
FORUT’s vision is a world in peace and without poverty, where all are secured human rights and social justice, and where alcohol and drugs do not prevent people’s well-being and fulfilment of human potential. FORUT shall enhance the quality of life of people through their participation in development processes, advocacy and political awareness.
FORUT has development programmes in three areas: Alcohol, Drugs and Development (ADD), Child Rights and Gender Equality. FORUT is one of the very few development NGOs globally which has specialized in addressing substance use problems as a development issue.
FORUT is owned by the three Norwegian civil society organizations IOGT, Juvente and JUBA, is a member of Actis (The Norwegian Policy Network on Alcohol and Drugs) and is also linked to IOGT International.
FORUT serves as secretariat for the Global Alcohol Policy Alliance (GAPA).
