The Healthy Lanka Alliance for Development (HLAD) is a local nongovernmental organization in Sri Lanka working towards social development mainly through the reduction of drug and alcohol abuse and facilitating to develop a healthy family in a healthy environment. HLAD was established in 1st of July 2011 with the aim of facilitating the activities to tackle the aforesaid issues to achieve the progress towards creating a healthy society. Those abuses of drugs and alcohol seen to be leading influencing factors that contribute to widespread poverty and poor living conditions.


Vision: The Vision of the organization is to be the leader among national non-governmental organizations in Sri Lanka to create a world with “Rights fulfilled Healthy People living in a Healthy Environment”


Mission: The mission of the HLAD is to bring about a social change that enhances the quality of life of all communities through prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, promoting health, democracy, and child and women rights within a healthy environment to ensure just and peaceful society.


HLAD also aims at encouraging Civil Society participation and social mobilization in the empowerment towards enhancement of the status of all members of the society, by harnessing the concept of healthy family and by providing a healthy environment fulfilling the above task concentrating on the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. In addition, the organization is in a further step to take all development aspects into a holistic approach to create a better world which ultimately make the status of the community to visualize rights fulfilled healthy people living in a healthy environment. Participation of all stakeholders including community members, collaborators, authorities, donors, and other organizations sought to implement all activities.
