SCAD is a not-for-profit organization established in 1997 aimed at reducing substance abuse prevalence rates and new HIV and infections among young people in Kenya. SCAD’s strategy employs education, research and advocacy as the means towards achieving this goal.
Through our education programs, we work with young people to equip them to make informed decisions while our advocacy efforts are aimed at addressing the environment within which they live. Research guides both our education and advocacy efforts as well as the efforts of others involved in the fight against drugs and HIV. SCAD programs are endorsed by the Ministry of Education and the National Campaign against Drug Abuse Authority, NACADAA.
SCAD is a founding member of the Kenya Alcohol Policy Alliance (KAPA) a civil society network of organizations working towards the enactment and enforcement of evidence-based alcohol laws.
SCAD is also a member of Community Anti - Drug Coalition of Kenya (CADCKE) which is an umbrella organization in Kenya that brings together like minded organizations that share best practices in the prevention and mitigation of Alcohol and Drugs Use and Abuse.
