Mathare Children’s Fund panairobi {MCFp} is a community based organization {CBO} implementing development projects mostly in Mathare Sub-County within Nairobi, Kenya. MCFp was set up in 1999 to bridge the gap that existed between children’s rehabilitation programmes and the need for sustainable solutions towards educational and livelihood support. Our guiding principle is "A society where basic needs of all children are met and children’s rights respected and upheld".
Upon establishment, MCFp’s core mandate was to facilitate access to education for underprivileged children through the School Sponsorship Programme. The program is design to provide psychosocial support to equip children with skills and competencies for independent living. We have since diversified and initiated other programmes such as Teenage Mothers Programme which is designed to equip teenage mothers with skills in garment making or cosmetology and basic business skills and life skills. Other programmes are Re-Usable Sanitary Pads project and Nairobi City Tours.
Our work experience has placed us at the helm of driving change within the community; as well as within networks and coalitions working to safeguard the lives of Children.
