PACTA is a pioneer NGO/FBO in the provision of interventions aimed at rehabilitating individuals affected by substance (alcoholism and other drugs) abuse and addiction in Northern Uganda.
It was founded by Rev. Fr. Samuel Okidi Mwaka, a recovered alcoholic who underwent treatment himself and has been sober since 6thFebruary 2003. PACTA was registered on 2nd October 2006 as a Community Based Organization (CBO) with Reg. No. CDR 850. The program is open to all irrespective of any affiliation as the disease does not segregate.
Since June 2004, when PACTA started its operations, a total of over 5,000 clients from across the Acholi Sub-region (and part of Southern Sudan) have directly benefited from its program of prevention, awareness creation, counselling and treatment of alcoholism and other addictive illnesses.
