U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), co-chairs of the Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control, held a hearing yesterday that examined the construction of illegal tunnels on the southwest border of the United States and the role these increasingly sophisticated tunnels may play in the transport of drugs, weapons and human beings.

At the hearing, Senator Feinstein announced she will introduce new legislation to provide law enforcement and prosecutors additional tools to locate tunnels, identify criminals and punish those involved in illegal activity.
