The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs has launched its new website which delivers important innovations both in terms of content and technological enhancements.


Some of the DESA
site’s new features include:


A news stream on the home page, providing visitors with timely, easy-to-read information on the Department’s activities.


A revamped “About Us” section intended to not only focus on DESA’s mission but also its tangible work and achievements.

A DESA Divisions page devoted to explaining the work of each Division in a clear and concise manner.


A new page dedicated to information on finding employment and internships at DESA.


A collection of pages where users both old and new can get to know Under-Secretary-General Sha Zukang.

An improved calendar feature so that those both inside and outside of DESA can keep track of the Department’s events.

A page design which is aligned with un.org to further harmonize the UN web presence, and create the foundation for more coherent DESA web sites.

Full multilingual support, offering most content in all six official UN languages.

Focus on web accessibility and web usability.

Use of advanced web analytics to gain detailed insight on the audience and content impact.

An increased focus on images/graphics.
