In a new commentary Robert L. DuPont, M.D., President of the Institute for Behavior and Health, Inc., tracks the long-term trends in illegal drug use from the 1970’s to the present and discusses the changes in US drug policy and culture that influenced these changes. Based on previous experience from 1973 to 1979, the current dramatic rise in the toleration and the corresponding rising levels of illegal drug use can be predicted to generate a renewed and broadly-based opposition.
