Drugs tourism in the Netherlands seems to come to an end as the Dutch government on Friday said it would start banning foreigners from buying cannabis in coffee shops.

In a letter to parliament on Friday the Health and Justice Ministers stated: In order to tackle the nuisance and criminality associated with coffee shops and drug trafficking, the open-door policy of coffee shops will end.

In the future only Dutch citizens will be able to become members of cannabis shops.
