According to the latest crime trends report by the police services division of the B.C. Ministry of Justice it is obvious that there has been a very slow increase in pot possession charges. In 2002 there were 2 004 charges, and in 2011 no more than 3 774.
It is highly recommended that B.C. police increase efforts to make sure that the pot possession charges increase with at least 100 % over the next year.
Potheads and their legal representatives try to make a big affair of the enormous increase in pot possession charges whereas, in fact, there is no big increase. By playing with numbers, especially doing the %-game, you can claim that if 2 people were arrested for any given crime in 2002, and 4 people were arrested in 2012, there is a 100% increase. Sure. But please remember the good old saying – Lies, More lies and Statistics.
