Health insurance rarely if ever covers use of marijuana; some patients spend hundreds of dollars a month or more on the drug. The situation may not change anytime soon, some experts say, according to Washington Post. Considering the fact that federal law regards marijuana as an illicit drug, it would seem very strange should health insurers pay for the use of an illicit drug. Furthermore, smoking marijuana has not been approved as a medicine. The fact that popular vote approves use of marijuana doesn´t make it a medicine.
