“It is an indication, more than anything, of the careless discussion about legalization currently going on in this country. That discussion is being funded with millions of dollars from those will profit off of legalization – marijuana’s version of Big Tobacco – as they consistently downplay the harmful effects of marijuana. We owe it to ourselves to have a careful dialogue about the possible downsides of the legalization of marijuana, which includes health care costs, car accidents, mental illness, learning dysfunctions, and addiction. I’d like to know how many supporters in that poll realized that marijuana is at least 5 times stronger than it was 20-30 years ago, that it is related to emergency room admissions, poor learning outcomes for kids, and car crashes.”
