The debate about legalizing marijuana essential revolves around money. Not surprisingly, the groups behind promoting legalized pot as a “casual” drug and “medical” marijuana have a financial interest since they stand to make a fair amount of money. Tobacco companies and other entrepreneurs will also benefit. Typically, I am a confident capitalist, but this “product” bears manifold costs, in potent ways — in government lobbying, crime, lost productivity and additional treatment expenses.
