What other country would wait as long as President Obama and his Attorney General have done to figure out that 19 States are breaking federal law on drugs. And, if they have figured it out, why don’t they act? Out of respect for some absurd pro-pot American right to hurt yourself and your environment without interference? As a thank you for financial contributions from pro-pot financiers? Scared to lose voters in upcoming elections?
Or are they just crazy enough to believe that use of drugs will make the American people happier.
Whatever the reason, the world is waiting and wondering why it takes such a long time to make sure federal laws are upheld. Luckily enough there are prosecutors in the U.S. who still think federal laws should be respected, and they act accordingly. They deserve more respect than a silent Administration.
There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.
