Last May, Pope Francis stated that the newly beatified father Pino Puglisi, a catholic priest, working in the poor Palermo district, Brancaccio, shoot to death in a Mafia execution in 1993, was the first “Mafia martyr” killed “in hatred of the faith”. Now Pope Francis himself could be at risk from the ‘Ndrangheta (calabrian mafia) according to a leading anti-mob prosecutor, the judge Nicola Gratteri.
