On March 20, a 45-year-old Indian national, arriving in Johor for the first time, was arrested by Customs officers at the baggage scanning unit after they detected drugs, believed to be ketamine, which was stuffed into a trolley bag. The suspect was attempting to smuggle in 9.3kg of ketamine worth RM325,745 into Johor and was bringing the drugs in through the Senai International Airport. Drug smuggling is an offence that carries the mandatory death sentence.
