The 67th UN General Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution, presented by Mexico, on international cooperation on the global problem of drugs.
The resolution was co-sponsored by 95 countries including various countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and in the European Union, as well as Japan, China, Australia, and the United States.
The Special Session will take place at the beginning of 2016.
A preparatory process will begin next year.The last UN General Assembly Special Session addressing the issue of drugs took place 14 years ago, in 1998.
