Esteban Wood is an Argentinian journalist who graduated in communication and has a master’s degree in public policy. He is an Ex alumnus of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program, formed in the field of “Drug Abuse Prevention, Education and Rehabilitation”.
He is a Member of the World Federation Against Drugs (WFAD) and the International Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals (ISSUP). He has published more than fifty drug awareness articles in newspapers, and given several interviews in radio and TV programmes about his area of expertise.
Esteban was appointed vice chairman of the Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs (VNGOC) in March 2024, for two years. Besides, he is currently the country coordinator for CADCA in Argentina.
From 2017 to 2022 he was in charge of the Municipal Drug Strategy in the city of Chascomús (Buenos Aires). Between 2004 and 2016 he held different senior management positions in the Secretary of Prevention and Fight Against Drug Trafficking of the Presidency (known as SEDRONAR by its initials in Spanish), starting as an intern in the Institucional Communication Department and ending his career path as the Chief of Cabinet to the Secretary of State.
As responsible for press, communication and public relations of the Argentinian Federation of NGOs working in Prevention and Drug Abuse Treatment (FONGA), he developed vast experience working with civil society and non-governmental organizations.
Due to his public commitment, Esteban was also invited to be part of the executive board of the National Drug Dependence Commission of the Argentine Episcopal Conference.
