Esteban Wood

Esteban Wood is an Argentine journalist, graduated in communication and a master’s degree in public policy.  Ex alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program, formed in the field of “Drug Abuse Prevention, Education and Rehabilitation”. Member of the World Federation Against Drugs (WFAD) and the International Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals (ISSUP). He has published more than fifty drug awareness articles in newspapers, and given several interviews in radio and tv programmes about his area of expertise.

Esteban is currently in charge of the Municipal Drug Strategy in the city of Chascomús (Buenos Aires), a plan launched in 2017 with the objective of tackling, with a local perspective, psychoactive substance use and abuse.It´s main axes are prevention, rehabilitation and social reintegration of those affected by addictions, training of human resources, supply control and coordination of interventions in other fields related to the problem.

Between 2004 and 2016 he held different senior management positions in the Secretary of Prevention and Fight Against Drug Trafficking of the Presidency (known as SEDRONAR by its initials in Spanish), starting as an intern in the Institucional Communication Department and ending his career path as the Chief of Cabinet to the Secretary of State.

As responsible for press, communication and public relations of the Argentine Federation of NGO working in Prevention and Drug Abuse Treatment (FONGA), he developed a vast experience working with civil society and non-governmental organizations.

Due to his public commitment, Esteban was also invited to be part of the executive board of the National Drug Dependence Commission of the Argentine Episcopal Conference.
