Peter Moilanen

Peter Moilanen, based in Stockholm, Sweden, is the director of the think-tank and network of the Drug Policy Centre in Sweden which has been working for a humane, restrictive drug policy through analysis, debate and education since 2019. He is also a staff member at the educational organization of the sobriety movement in Sweden.

Furthermore, Peter Moilanen is a board member of NordAN, Nordic Alcohol and Drug Policy Network, which works with drug policy in the Nordic and Baltic countries and The Swedish Council for Information on Alcohol and Other Drugs, CAN, who monitor, communicate, and makes research in the field of drugs.

He has earlier worked as secretary general at IOGT-NTO (2011-2018) and was responsible for drug policy, social and prevention work when WFAD was founded in 2009 (2007-2011). He worked as the European Policy Officer at IOGT-NTO and was part-time based in Brussels (2003-2007). He was also secretary general at the IOGT-NTO Movement, which worked with international development in Eastern Africa, East Asia and Balkan countries.

Peter Moilanen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and higher education credits in Opioid Substitution Treatment and Network and Project work.

He believes that political solutions are possible to decrease consumption, substance use disorder and drug-related death in the world and that civil society should play a crucial role in that work.
