WADAN is an Afghan national non-governmental organization established in 2002, with more than two decades of continuous operational presence across Afghanistan. Since its inception, WADAN has implemented over 257 projects in all 34 provinces, including long-term mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions in both stable and highly insecure contexts.
Since 2005, WADAN has been implementing specialized drug demand reduction programs with financial support from the U.S. Department of State (INL), the Colombo Plan, UNODC, and WHO. These programs provide evidence-based prevention, treatment, and recovery support services through multidisciplinary teams of qualified professionals. In parallel, WADAN actively advocates for the rights of people affected by substance use disorders and promotes evidence-based approaches to care and rehabilitation.
