Action for Fundamental Change and Development (AFFCAD) was founded in 2009 by a group of four your people in Bwaise, one of Kampala’s poorest slums to initially support vulnerable communities infested and affected by the scourge of HIV/AIDS. The inspiration behind the initiative was to bring about fundamental and sustainable change in the lives of slum youth through imparting technical, vocational and life skills. MISSION: “To empower communities through well-designed programs to achieve sustained self-reliance”. AFFCAD programs focus on alcohol, drugs and substance use prevention, Education, Sexual reproductive health, Vocational skills, Entrepreneurship skills and leadership skills, economic empowerment, HIV/AIDS prevention in Kampala’s poorest communities, promotion of peace.
