The Nairobi Liaison Office organised and facilitated the first East and Central Africa Crime and Substance Prevention Network Kenya Chapter Forum on 23rd February 2021. Among the issues discussed included:
- The overall goals of the Network, its formation and its intentions
- Members’ commitment to the vision and objectives of the Network
- The working relations between the Network and WFAD (and other International Platforms with open opportunities)
- Mapping of Organisations based on their strengths and focal interventions (Children, Youth, Women, Empowerment, Prevention, Mentorship, Treatment etc)
- A baseline survey of relevant community interventions, prevailing needs, and challenges
- Information about UNODC and CND, and how Civil Societies can strengthen their communities’ voices in policy advocacy, formulation, and implementation
- A team to draft a local work plan for joint activities especially during World International Days such as Women Day and Day of the African Child among others
The occasion was graced by Regina Mattson the WFAD Secretary-General who joined the forum online and gave an in-depth brief on all the major points above. Paul and George followed up with more details through an interactive session with participants. The members were quite elated about the developments and have expressed their renewed desire to work as a team in moving forward. Finally, committed participants were awarded Membership Certificates as a way of enhancing ownership and commitment to the Network.
