Invited by Proyecto Hombre, WFAD partook in the Expert Consultation on Drug Prevention in Oviedo, Spain, 9th of June 2023. The following report can be read in full on the Proyecto Hombre website.

On June 9, 2023, a consultation of experts in the field of drug prevention and other addictions will take place in the city of Oviedo, Spain, with the special participation of Dr. Wadih Maalouf, global coordinator for Prevention at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The meeting will bring together a selection of 30 experts from civil society organizations, government, and academia. Current prevention strategies at international, national, and local levels will be presented and discussed. Primarily, the assessment study of the school-based prevention program “Juego de Llaves”, which involved the collaboration of the government of Spain, the United Nations and the University of Oviedo, will be presented and followed up. This meeting is organized by Association Proyecto Hombre alongside Fundación CESPA-Proyecto Hombre Asturias and the collaboration of the Council of Oviedo.

El día 9 de junio de 2023 tendrá lugar en la ciudad de Oviedo una consulta de expertos en el ámbito de la prevención de drogas y otras adicciones que contará con la participación especial del Dr. Wadih Maalouf, coordinador global de prevención de Naciones Unidas. La reunión congregará una selección de 30 expertos provenientes de organizaciones de la sociedad civil, del gobierno y del mundo académico.
Se presentarán y debatirán estrategias actuales en prevención a nivel internacional, nacional y local. Asimismo, se presentará y dará seguimiento al estudio de evaluación del programa de prevención escolar “Juego de Llaves” que cuenta con la colaboración del gobierno de España, Naciones Unidas y la Universidad de Oviedo. Este encuentro es organizado por la Asociación Proyecto Hombre juntamente con la Fundación CESPA-Proyecto Hombre Asturias y la colaboración del Ayuntamiento de Oviedo.

Prior to the Expert Consultation, WFAD had the honour to visit two of Proyecto Hombre’s sites: Prevention Centre and Thereauptic community in the region of Austurias.
