DAM Receives Two Awards for Outstanding Contributions to Drug Prevention and Treatment Services

Our member, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), has received two awards for its outstanding drug prevention & treatment contribution. The awards were handed over on July 10th, 2023, at a ceremony held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Auditorium on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Honourable Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs Mr Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP was present as Chief Guest and handed over the awards to Iqbal Masud, Director, Heath & WASH Sector for drug prevention programme and Farjana Ferdous Pinky, Center Manager, Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Center of DAM for drug treatment for female.

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) has selected Dhaka Ahsania Mission for these awards considering the evidence-based prevention programme and treatment and rehabilitation services. The female centre of DAM has specialist psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, counsellors, case managers, professional staff, modern and evidence-based treatment approaches, and other facilities for the clients.

The Honourable Secretary of the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Md. Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury was present as a Special Guest. The Directorate General (DG) of the Department of Narcotics Control, Mr Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan chaired the programme.

It is mentionable that Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been implementing drug prevention activities since 1990 and providing evidence-based drug treatment services to male drug users since 2004 and female drug users since 2014. Dhaka Ahsania Mission is operating four drug treatment and rehabilitation centres in Gazipur, Munshiganj and Jessore for male drug users and Dhaka for female drug users.
