Update shared by our member, Narconon Nigeria Initiative
In line with the United Nations’ celebration of the achievements against the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Narconon Nigeria Initiative, the Nigerian chapter of Narconon Worldwide (a global institution against drug abuse), went into collaboration with a grassroots political group in Oshodi/Isolo LGA, Lagos State Team Shanana, to commemorate this year International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Lectures and enlightenment sessions were held across various schools in Oshodi to mark the celebration. The sessions were held in a manner that deploys interactions with young persons and adults alike. Basic information about simple and hard drugs was discussed, and the implications of abusing both classes of drugs were emphasized so as to discourage the audience from getting involved with activities associated with drug abuse.
Schools were also visited, where younger pupils are provided with pamphlets that provide basic education about the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The lectures and enlightenment sessions were anchored by certified drug abuse counsellors. Attached are photographs taken earlier in the day while the commemorative sessions were being held.
