Participation at the 1st Anniversary Celebration of the Vision Thinkers Youth Group

George Ochieng Odalo, Founder and Director of Slum Child Foundation, represented WFAD at the 1st Anniversary Celebration of the Vision Thinkers Youth Group, held in Mathare. We are grateful for their Invitation.

On behalf of the World Federation Against Drugs (WFAD), and as the Founder and Director of Slum Child Foundation, I had the honour of attending and delivering remarks at the 1st Anniversary Celebration of the Vision Thinkers Youth Group held in Mathare under the powerful theme “Transforming, Innovating, and Empowering Youths.” The event brought together passionate youth leaders, community members, and stakeholders united in their commitment to youth empowerment and drug prevention. Representing both Slum Child Foundation and WFAD, I emphasized the critical role of youth-led initiatives in building drug-free communities and shared a message of solidarity from the global network of WFAD partners who stand with local movements like Vision Thinkers in advancing a shared vision of dignity, health, and opportunity for all young people.

The celebration was a vibrant showcase of talent, resilience, and purpose. It featured cultural expressions, personal testimonies, and strong calls to action centered on education, innovation, and behavioral change. As a grassroots organization based in the heart of Korogocho and a proud member of WFAD, Slum Child Foundation commends the Vision Thinkers Youth Group for their outstanding work over the past year. We believe this milestone marks just the beginning of even greater impact, and we reaffirm our commitment to walk alongside them in the journey toward a more empowered and drug-free generation across Nairobi’s informal settlements and beyond.
