John Jeevaka Gunasekara
I am John Jeevaka Gunasekara and from Negombo. I am 55 years of age and my wife passed away when we were living in Dubai. Now I only have my daughter. I was sober for about 12 years and after we came back from Dubai, I went back to Drugs again. I got to know about the Bethesda Rehabilitation Center through my desperate daughter. She was worried about me and looking for a place for me to go and be free of drugs. I truly didn’t like the sound of Brother Vipula’s centre. But I had no choice because my daughter was pressing me to come here. so, at last, I came. To tell you the truth, it was quite different from what I heard about Brother Vipula. He had a real passion for these lost souls. As time went by, I developed a kind of liking for the place and wanted to stay along helping the centre. By this time, I was set free from all my addictions thank GOD. Now I do a little bit of work for the center and help Brother Vipula with his ministry. I thank our LORD and Savior JESUS Christ for saving me from this pit of hell. I would continue to HIS Ministry till my last breath.

Thushara Fernando
I am Thushara Fernando from Negombo. I am 41 years old now. I have been a heroin addict for 14 years. I am Brother Vipula’s Brother-in-law and thank GOD I got the opportunity to join Bethesda. It was a Small rented small house at that time. I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior though I came from a different religious background. I was healed and decided to commit my life to serving others who were addicted to drugs. I commenced myself as a volunteer in the centre under the guidance of  Bro. Vipula cares for and counsels the new admissions. I am married to Amani Silva, She was attached to another fellow Christian mission spreading the word of God. Today I am leading a happy family life with three kids to call me daddy and freed from drugs with HIS grace alone. I have been sober for the past 10 years. My wife is also a full-time volunteer. I am grateful to Jesus Christ for saving my life and giving me happiness instead of sorrow and agony I went through being a drug addict.”

Murugesu Rajendran
I am Murugesu Rajendran, at the age of 24 I was already a victim of Heroin. Addicted to it with no way of getting out trying everything I could. But thank GOD, in the year 2015 I got to know about a place called Bethesda Rehabilitation Center. Even though I didn’t like to go there I had not much of a choice because I was getting tired of my addiction. Being a Hindu from Birth was another factor to look into when I knew that it was a Christian place. On top of that, I was a Hindu priest. I made up my mind when I got delivered from drugs completely that I was going to stick with them for a while. And it continued for 8 long years. I came to the centre as a very sick person with many pains and elements in my body. But JESUS healed them all. I WAS A VERY HAPPY PERSON BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS GETTING BETTER IN MY LIFE AND MOST OF ALL I MET JESUS. That was the turning point of my life.

Even though I had many temptations to go back home and do a normal job, deep inside me was the desire to serve the LORD. And now it’s been 8 years at the Bethesda Center serving our precious LORD and Savior Jesus. Yes, I have had my ups and downs. But by God’s grace, I am still hanging on. If anyone asks me what my plans are, I would tell them without hesitation that I only want to serve my JESUS till I my last breath. Amen and Amen……

Kishan Hemachandra
I am Kishan Hemachandra by name. At the age of 21, I was already a victim of Heroin. Addicted to it with no way of getting out trying everything I could. But thank GOD, in the year of 2011 I got to know about a place called Bethesda Rehabilitation Center. Even though I didn’t like to go there I had not much of a choice because I was getting tired of my addiction. My family life was affected couldn’t carry on with my job and even my finances went down. Being a Buddhist from Birth was another factor to look into when I knew that it was a Christian place. But anyway I was taken by my brother to this place. I made up my mind when I got delivered from drugs completely that I was going to stick with them for a while. And it continued for 5 long years. I WAS A VERY HAPPY PERSON BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS GETTING BETTER IN MY LIFE AND MOST OF ALL I MET JESUS. That was the turning point of my life.

The next chapter is even better. As I live in Gampaha, I found a lovely church close to my house called Emmanuel Church Yakkala. With the guidance of my Pastor Saman Ekanayaka, I started to grow in the LORD and without even knowing I was involved with the ministry work. My wife and my lovely two daughters also gave their lives to JESUS through my life testimony. But how could I ever forget where it all started? I thought I would give my everything to Bethesda and would serve there till JESUS told me to move. Today I am the manager who looks after 250- 300 addicts at the Bethesda Center. Today I want to take this opportunity to thank the LORD and HIS servant Brother Vipula for helping me.

Ishantha Buddika
I am Ishantha Buddika from Negombo. I am 40 years of age. I was addicted to heroin for 24 years. Till 2019, I was roaming around with no aim in life. But now I thank GOD for I knew my friend Brother Vipul way before he started the ministry. He used to call me to come get admitted, but I didn’t want to. One day I got tired of drugs and I thought to myself “I must change “and came and got admitted in 2019/05/30th. It was not easy for me to get out of drugs because I used to consume a big dose of drugs a day. But to tell you the truth, from the very first day I set my foot at the Bethesda, something told me that this JESUS could set me free from drugs. Oh yes, I was a strong Roman Catholic from birth. But I didn’t have a personal relationship with JESUS. So, I gave my life to JESUS and everything gradually started to change in my life. I was feeling free and happy all the time. If someone asks me, why am I happy? I didn’t know how to explain. It was a true joy within me. Anyway, I also didn’t get the urge to go home in a hurry. Since 2019 I have been staying with my brother Vipul and started voluntary work in Bethesda.

After some time, JESUS started blessing me. I know HE is taking me to where He wants me to go. My idea was to do a normal job and live a peaceful life. But GOD had other plans for me. I joined the Bethesda ministry and now I work with Brother Vipul helping these lost people to find JESUS and come out of this misery.

Mohammed Raizool
I am Mohammed Raizool from Maligawatta, Colombo. I am 41 years of age. I was addicted to heroin for 18 long years. Till 2018, I was getting admitted to many centres around the country trying to find a way out of drugs. By this time, I got to know about Brother Vipul and came and got admitted. It was not easy for me to get out of drugs because I used to consume a lot of drugs a day. Being from a Muslim background, it was very hard for me to get adjusted to this new Christian faith. But to tell you the truth, from the very first day I came here, something told me that this JESUS could set me free from drugs. So, I gave my life to JESUS and everything started to change in my life. I was feeling free and happy all the time. If someone asks me, why am I happy?  I didn’t know how to explain. It was a true joy within me. But the sad part is, that my family rejected me totally for accepting Christ as my LORD and saviour. Anyway, I also didn’t get the urge to go home soon. Since 2018 I have been staying with Brother Vipul and started work in the Bethesda Office.

After some time, JESUS started blessing me. I know HE is taking me to where He wants me to go. My idea was to do a normal job and live a peaceful life. But GOD had other plans for me. I joined the Bethesda ministry and now I work with Brother Vipul helping these lost people to find JESUS and come out of this misery.

Roy Kumara
I am Roy Kumara by name from Negombo. I knew about what Brother Vipula was doing and I went to meet him in 2009.. at that time I had stopped drugs and was sober for about a week or so. Even though I had stopped drugs, my life had not changed. Brother Vipula also knew me well.. at this time he had just started a centre in Kandy and was looking for an opening to bring it down to Negombo. When I met him, he gave me 7500 and told me to look for a place to start the centre. During this time, I didn’t know anything about JESUS and what salvation was. Today I want to thank GOD, because of this ministry I found my greatest strength and my salvation, JESUS. Because HE said HE will never leave me, I know for sure that I’ll never take drugs again in this life living on this earth.

After some time, my JESUS started blessing me.I was just a beggar left with nothing.. today I have a good job, I run two businesses on my own, and I built my house. JESUS gave me a good wife and a good family who love me very much. I know HE is taking me to where He wants me to go.. my idea was to do a normal job and live a peaceful life.. but GOD had other plans for me. I joined the Bethesda ministry and now I work with Brother Vipula helping these lost people to find JESUS and come out of this misery. Now it has been a good 14 years of totally free of drug years. I today take this wonderful opportunity to thank my JESUS for all that HE has done in my life. Amen
