Our member, the Eye Opener, Award winner of 2021 W.H.O World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) in West Africa, has gotten various media coverage recently on their activities. Below, two of them are described:

Nigeria Union Journalists Ceremony in the Kaduna State Council

The Founder of the Eye Opener, Margaret Kwaada Julius, spoke at the ceremony of Nigeria Union Journalists in the Kaduna State Council. Here, she emphasises the importance to keep on fighting against substance abuse and taking the issue more seriously. Not only the person using is affected by the substance, but his/her family also faces many struggles. Therefore, the media should continue reporting the issue since it also helps the governmental awareness and actions.

Awareness and Sensitisation Meeting with the Tudun Wada community

Tudun Wada Community faces a high frequency of substance use. Therefore, the Eye Opener paid a visit to the community leaders and its team to create awareness on the issue and offer support to help to act upon the challenge to deal with the high rate of substance use and substance use disorders.
