On the sidelines of the celebration of the International Day against Drug abuse and Trafficking, OPADEC through the “CONGO NATION WITHOUT DRUGS” initiative in collaboration with the World Federation Against Drugs (WFAD) and SOS-SIDA organizes the first screening of the documentary film “LES OUBLIES”: a documentary film on the daily challenges and the lives of people who use drugs in the city of Bukavu.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To contribute to the promotion of the rights of people who use drugs in the city of Bukavu through a video containing testimonies and reliable information on their living conditions while pleading for their holistic care, because they constitute a category of marginalized people, forgotten and abandoned.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE
To understand the different categories of drugs used commonly in the city of Bukavu, their modes of consumption, and their direct effects on users as well as on society and the community. Know the urgent needs of people who use drugs and provide assistance as far as possible. Conduct a sincere debate during the screening together with the participants in order to collect their points of view in relation to the fight against drugs and the care of people with addiction. The data and discussions will be used as a basis to develop a provincial plan to fight against drugs and a holistic policy for the holistic care of people who use drugs.
This plan will be developed by the Ministry of Health through the National Program for the Fight against Drug Addiction and the Toxic Substances PNLCT in collaboration with certain provincial ministries including: interior, education, youth, social affairs under the support of certain NGOs and other civil society actors.
