As part of the efforts to enhance cooperation between Europol and Colombian law enforcement authorities, a new operational agreement has been signed by Europol Director, Rob Wainwright and the Director of Colombian Police, General Óscar Naranjo.

Colombia is the first Latin American country to enter into an operational agreement with Europol and it is expected that this new level of cooperation and understanding will be crucial in facilitating the fight against organised crime such as currency counterfeiting and drug trafficking. The agreement allows for the exchange of strategic and operational information, including personal data on known and suspected criminals.
