Michigan: State House passes bill that would deny welfare to drug users

Welfare reform that would deny benefits to recipients who test positive for drugs and whose child is truant from school passed the state House of Representatives Wednesday. The bills, which now move to the Senate for consideration, received wide bi-partisan support. The bill that would deny benefits to families if a child is truant from school passed on a 78-32 vote while the drug testing bill passed on a 77-33 vote.
