Why marijuana legalization would compromise public health and public safety

In the Opening Statement of the Government of the United States of America before the 53nd UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, Gil Kerlikowske, Director, National Drug Control Policy, United States spoke on marijuana, among other topics, and made it very clear that “We in the Obama Administration are opposed to legalizing marijuana or any other illicit drug”.

In a speech delivered at the California Police Chiefs Association Conference early March Kerlikowske stated the views of the Administration on “medical” marijuana and legalization of marijuana.
