Summary Webinar on Victimisation, Suicide, and Coping among Vulnerable [Slum] Youth Who Use Drugs During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Uganda and Nepal

The latest Webinar on Victimisation, Suicide, and Coping among Vulnerable (Slum) Youth Who Use Drugs the COVID-19 Pandemic in Uganda and Nepal, was successfully held on the 27th of January. Our keynote speakers Roger Kasirye (UYDEL), Barbara Nakijoba (UYDEL) and Sumnima Tuladhar (CWIN) shared their research and the strategies to address the vulnerable population through youth intervention, strengthening family and parenting, community support, youth intervention and socio-economic empowerment. 

The study exanimated the psychosocial risk factors, vulnerability of girls, suicide rate and emergency support. The keynote speakers discussed the similarities of the situations in Uganda and Nepal and highlighted the importance of building resilience and including the youth in the interventions as it bring ownership and trains them to become peer educators.
