Urban young people faced a myriad of problems and during COVID 19 this may have worsened. Normally this population is neglected by many formal programmes as these young people may have lost parent and family contacts. The study at will be presented at the webinar examined the factors associated with suicide, victimization, and coping among vulnerable youth who use drugs in Uganda. The analyses were based on cross-sectional survey data, collected from 2020, of a convenient sample (n = 583) of urban youth who are also former UYDEL beneficiaries. Findings shed more light on the unmet need of this vulnerable population with heightened use of drugs and alcohol, criminality, sex work and begging. Strategies to address the plight of this vulnerable population included; utilizing interventions that addresses youth unemployment, alcohol and drugs strengthening family, community support and parenting, provision of vocational skills training, financial literacy and socio-economic empowerment and therein provision of cash transfers and booster grants to vulnerable youth.
