Upcoming: Youth-Led Webinar: Trauma & Mental Health 30 July, 14:00 CEST

The World Federation Against Drugs (WFAD), together with the Young Professionals Advisory Board (YPAB), a youth-led initiative of the Drug Free America Foundation, is pleased to invite you to the next session in the six-month Youth-Led Webinar Series.

The webinar will take place on 30 July 2026 at 14:00 CEST and will address trauma, with a focus on the importance of addressing trauma in prevention and treatment, as well as stigma reduction and the power of words.

The webinar will feature Kinya N. Gitonga, Clinical Psychologist, mental health advocate and Founder of Sound Mental Health. Her work focuses on youth mental health, psychosocial support and substance use prevention. She is also an author and Editor at Storymoja Publishers and is currently pursuing an MSc in Clinical Psychology at the University of Nairobi. Kinya is passionate about promoting evidence-informed, youth-centred approaches to mental health and wellbeing.

She will be joined by Gisela Hansen, PhD, clinical psychologist, researcher and lecturer at the University of Barcelona, and Head of International Relations and Advocacy at Dianova International. With 20 years of experience working with people and communities, her work focuses on addictions, trauma, stigma, gender and mental health. She combines clinical practice, research, teaching and international advocacy to promote evidence-based, person-centred and human rights-based approaches to prevention, treatment and recovery.

The Youth-Led Webinar Series brings together young leaders, professionals, advocates and experts from around the world to explore issues affecting young people and strengthen youth engagement in substance use prevention. The topics discussed throughout the series have been identified by young people, and each session is led and moderated by youth representatives.

We warmly invite young people, practitioners, policymakers, researchers, civil society organisations and anyone interested in prevention, treatment and recovery to join us for this discussion.
