Today, on June 26th, we are commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This year’s theme, announced by the UNODC, is “Share Facts on Drugs – Save lives” Only together, by sharing knowledge and helping each other, we can work towards establishing a safer environment by offering prevention, treatment, and recovery.
In line with sharing facts, the UNODC has published the World Drug Report 2021 this week. The 6 sub-booklets provide an in-depth analysis of the global drug markets and paint a comprehensive picture of the measurable effects and potential impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the world drug problem.

|WFAD reaffirms the needs to share facts on drugs to save lives. Together with our members, prevention is one of our focus areas that we continue to work in, advocate for, and raise awareness of. Prevention strategies require further development, the inclusion of minorities, and research in more regions. Therefore, we would like to use this day to reflect on the needs that will need to be considered in future prevention strategies and the necessity to involve all stakeholders.|
