Report by Individual Member on Ending Drug Trafficking to Stop the Killing

Individual Member, Kazeem Lukman Adeyinka, shared his programme named ‘End Drug Trafficking – Stop the Killing’, which he organised at the Community Outreach in Nigeria. He shared training material and encouraged youth engagement and empowerment. The material included definitions of terminology. Some of the material has been shared for the purpose of this article.

What is Drug Trafficking – Drug trafficking is the buying and selling of illegal drugs. A drug courier is an individual that makes illegal drugs secretly cross the national border from one country to another.

What are the Reasons for Drug Trafficking – Anarchy, ignorance, foreign travel, or unemployment.

Consequences of Drug Trafficking – Gang violence, political instability, under-development, cruel laws, immorality.

Prevention of Drug Trafficking – agencies, education, financial welfare, law and order, reliabilitation, prosperity, and morality.

Youth Killing Must be Stopped – Youth killing is prohibited. By killing youth, future leaders are being killed. World stakeholders need to review the factors attributing to the youth killing and limit it.

Causes of youth killing – Epidemic pincer, tout manipulation, guns importation, media’s adoration violence, poor schooling, absence of adult care and supervision, poverty, poor communication, etc.

Prevention Mechanisms – Stakeholders are government, community, and parents. Children Rights need to be ensured. Campaigns should be held, advocacy for children, ensuring school safety, psychological services, and free health care.
