On January 24th and 25th, we organised an online two-day Drug Capacity Training together with the Civil Development Organization in Iraq. Representatives from civil society, governmental staff, as well as actors working in the field were present to learn about the basics of illicit drugs, how to recognise drug use, drug prevention, legal introduction, and motivational training.

The meeting was opened by the General Director of CDO, Bakhtyar A. Salih, and the Secretary-General of WFAD, Regina Mattsson. Our international speakers, Erik Leijonmarck, Asia Ashraf, and Mulka Nisic presented the various topics to the participants. After theoretical presentations, the participants were divided into different breakout rooms to discuss questions provided by the speakers. Each group presented the results of their lively discussions. Kozheen Othman moderated the training.

Overall, everyone could agree on the fact that more awareness on the topic needs to be raised within the area and that representatives from various regions need to become a strong voice representing the area on international platforms.
